“My God My God why have thou forsaken me?”

“My God My God why have thou forsaken me?”

The lyrics of the song “There Goes My Saviour” was prompted by the Power of the Holy Spirit, including the critical portion of the song. In fact I had dwelt on that portion many a time and finally penned that which emerged by the prompting of The Holy Spirit.

The subsequent heart breaking reaction of Christ Jesus, went on to express His feeling of abandonment, by lifting up His voice to God the Father ”Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani”.

But now that this portion of the song has been highlighted by my fellow forum members who are equally thirsty for His Kingdom, all that I could do was to go back to the one who prompted me to write this song.

And when I did, the Almighty revealed it to me, I did Praise the Lord with tears for helping me to reveal that moment with an explanation to bring understanding to all those who love Him.

With Prayers and longing for an answer, I browsed the Bible and in the midway, the Lord reminded me one of my favourite passages of the Bible Isaiah 54.7 & 8, which until now never occurred in my mind to correlate this with the Crucifixion of Christ Jesus, more so with the critical portion of the song.

Prophet Isaiah has prophesized about Christ Jesus, the Messiah, through many chapters of His book and has done so in chapter 54 as well.

Isaiah 54 (New International Version)

4 "Do not be afraid; you will not suffer shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your
widowhood (period of having been abandoned or forsaken).

5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.

6 The LORD will call you back

(meaning that earlier He did not heed to your call – Eli Eli Lama Sabachthani)
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected," says your God.

7 "For a brief moment I abandoned (forsake) you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

8 In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you
for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,"
says the LORD your Redeemer.

9 "To me this is like the days of Noah,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.

10 Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,"
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.

About the covenant of Peace:

(Isaiah 9:6)

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 54

11 "O afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
I will build you with stones of turquoise,
[a]
your foundations with sapphires.
[b]

12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.

13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD,
and great will be your children's peace.

14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.

15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

16 "See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to work havoc;

17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the Servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from me,"
declares the LORD.

Who is this Servant?

Mathew 12

God's Chosen Servant

15Aware of this, Jesus withdrew from that place. Many followed him, and he healed all their sick, 16warning them not to tell who he was. 17This was to fulfil what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
18"Here is
my servant whom I have chosen,
the one I love, in whom I delight;
I will put my Spirit on him,
and he will proclaim justice to the nations.
19He will not quarrel or cry out;
no one will hear his voice in the streets.
20A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smouldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he leads justice to victory.
21In his name the nations will put their hope."[c]

Isa 42:1-4 NASB

"Behold, My Servant, whom I uphold;

My chosen one in whom My soul delights.

I have put My Spirit upon Him;

He will bring forth justice to the nations.

He will not cry out or raise his voice,

Nor make His voice heard in the street.

A bruised reed He will not break,

And a dimly burning wick He will not extinguish;

He will faithfully bring forth justice.

He will not be disheartened or crushed,

Until He has established justice in the earth;

And the coastlands will wait expectantly for His law."

It is clear that many prophesies of Isaiah dwells in the life of

Christ Jesus and it does have an explanation for “My God My

God why have thou forsaken me?”

Luke 10:21 (New International Version)

21At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.

Praise Jesus for this.
